2014 KZN Warmblood Day

The 2014 Kwazulu Natal Warmblood Day

The Langley Equestrian centre, in association with the SBS Studbook, held a very successful Warmblood Day on the 22nd November at their beautiful, newly upgraded facilities. The aim of the day was to offer owners and breeders an opportunity to showcase their young stock, display their stallions and market their studs, in an effort to promote the phenomenal talent we have available to us in South Africa.

It was a privilege to welcome the international judge from Belgium, courtesy of the SBS Studbook, in the form of Dr Patrick Mahieu, the breeder of the world class horse ROTHCHILD ridden by McLain Ward.
The day enjoyed sponsorship support from a number of role players, including Equipage Insurance Brokers, Western Shoppe and Mini Umhlanga Rocks as well as a number of anonymous sponsors. We are very grateful to our sponsors as without their support, we could not host an event like this.

The schedule catered for 2 year old, 3 year old and 4 year old free jumping, as well as in hand, foals and free movement classes and was well supported. A lovely selection of horses from both locally bred and imported stock was presented on the day. Dr Mahieu was very impressed with the quality of horses shown, and has committed to supporting the event to be held again on the 14th November 2015.

Results on the day were as follows:
Foal Display: – Dressage – Losgelassen Querido (Compton House Quantico/Mossandi Radient)
– Show Jumping – Caesar Berlin (Casper/Coco de Mer)
Young Stock (non-jumping) – 1st – Kingscross Highland Piper (Nickweb Antonio/Oscar Star)

The event is planned to run annually and the organisers, Grant Langley and Jocelyn Constant, in association with the SBS Studbook, hope to see this event grow into one of the premium events on the Warmblood Calendar. Langley WB-374 Losgelassen Querido Opal de la Bastide SARDA Spectators
